Do you want to know if you are in a healthy weight range? Are you looking for a simple way to calculate your body mass index (BMI)? At Thousand Petaled Lotus Yoga Centre, located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, we have the answers you need.
Body Mass Index (BMI) is a measure of body fat based on height and weight. It’s used to determine if someone is underweight, overweight, or in a healthy weight range. It is a widely used screening tool for detecting weight categories that may lead to health problems.
At Thousand Petaled Lotus Yoga Centre, we understand the importance of maintaining a healthy weight and that everyone’s body is unique. That’s why we’re offering you a guide on how to calculate your BMI. Read on to learn more.
To calculate your BMI, you’ll need to know your height in metres and your weight in kilograms. If you don’t know these measurements, you can use a measuring tape to measure your height and a bathroom scale to measure your weight. Once you have these measurements, you can calculate your BMI by dividing your weight in kilograms by your height in metres squared. For example, if your weight is 70 kilograms and your height is 1.75 metres, your BMI would be calculated as follows:
70kg / (1.75m x 1.75m) = 22.9
The BMI result gives you an indication of whether you are underweight, in a healthy weight range, or overweight. The World Health Organization (WHO) suggests the following categories for the BMI result:
Underweight: <18.5
Normal weight: 18.5 to 25
Overweight: 25 to 30
Obese: >30
