Yoga certification in Dubai: how to become a certified yoga instructor
To become a certified yoga instructor in Dubai, complete a 200-hour course at a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School, register as an RYT 200, and register with REPs UAE so gyms and studios can hire you. Here is each step, what it costs and how long it takes.
1. Build a steady practice first
You don't need advanced poses, but you do need a regular practice. Most trainees have taken classes for at least six months to a year before they start. If you are unsure, our free 10-hour Yoga Foundation course is a good way to find out whether teacher training is for you.
2. Choose a registered yoga school
The certificate is only as good as the school behind it. Before you pay, check:
- Yoga Alliance RYS 200: the school must be a Registered Yoga School, or you cannot register as an RYT 200. Look it up on the Yoga Alliance directory.
- REPs UAE registered training provider: this makes REPs registration straightforward when you graduate.
- Who teaches you: the lead trainer should be an E-RYT 500 with years of teaching behind them.
- Group size: small groups (around 10) mean real feedback on your teaching.
- Teaching practice: look for at least 25 hours of supervised practicum, not just lectures.
- The real total cost: ask whether the manual, exam and certificate are included, and whether instalments are available.
- A schedule you can finish: weekday, weekend or flexible. Ask how missed sessions are made up.

3. Complete the 200-hour training
A Yoga Alliance 200-hour course covers five areas:
- Techniques and practice: asana, pranayama and meditation
- Teaching methodology: sequencing, cueing and adjustments
- Anatomy and physiology: for safe teaching and injury prevention
- Philosophy and ethics: the Yoga Sutras and the ethics of teaching
- Practicum: teaching real classes with feedback
In Dubai most people train part-time over about three months. Our RYT 200 yoga teacher training runs as a weekday batch, a weekend batch, or a Hybrid for cabin crew and shift workers, with the next batch starting 1 November 2026.
4. Register with Yoga Alliance as an RYT 200
Once you graduate, create an account on the Yoga Alliance website, add your school and certificate, and pay the annual membership. Your school confirms your training, and you can then use the RYT 200 credential. It is recognised by studios, gyms and retreats around the world.
5. Register with REPs UAE
REPs UAE, the Registry of Exercise Professionals, is the UAE's register for fitness and wellness instructors, and most gyms, hotels and studios here look for it when hiring. Apply online with your certificate. Check REPs UAE's current requirements before you apply, as they can include a valid first-aid certificate.
6. Start teaching
- Get experience: assist experienced teachers, cover classes and teach friends, colleagues or community groups.
- Apply to studios, gyms and hotels with your RYT 200 and REPs registration.
- Teach privately or as a freelancer: in the UAE this needs the right licence or freelance permit, or working through a licensed studio.
- Get insured: professional liability insurance protects you and your students.
- Keep learning: a 300-hour advanced training leads to RYT 500, and specialist courses such as meditation teacher training broaden what you can offer.

How long does it take to become a certified yoga instructor in Dubai?
About three months for the 200-hour training on a weekday or weekend schedule, or longer at your own pace on a flexible Hybrid course. Registration with Yoga Alliance and REPs UAE usually follows within a few weeks of graduating.
How much does yoga certification cost in Dubai?
Prices vary between schools, so compare what is included. Our in-person RYT 200 is AED 9,500 at the early-bird price, including the manual, exam and certification, with interest-free instalments. Yoga Alliance and REPs UAE charge their own registration fees.
Do I need both Yoga Alliance and REPs UAE?
Yoga Alliance is the international credential studios and retreats recognise worldwide. REPs UAE is the local register most gyms, hotels and studios in the UAE look for. Teaching in the UAE, it is worth having both, which is why it matters that your school is registered with both.
Is an online yoga teacher training accepted in Dubai?
Some online certificates are accepted by Yoga Alliance, but employers in Dubai generally prefer in-person training, because teaching is a hands-on skill. An in-person course also gives you supervised teaching practice and real feedback.
Can I become a yoga teacher without being very flexible?
Yes. Teacher training is about understanding, safety and communication, not extreme poses. A steady practice and commitment matter far more than flexibility.
What comes after the RYT 200?
Teach as much as you can, then deepen your skills with a 300-hour advanced training, which lets you register as an RYT 500, and with specialist courses such as meditation, prenatal or aerial yoga.
