How to Choose a Yoga Teacher Training in Dubai: 12-Point Checklist

Choosing a yoga teacher training in Dubai? Use this 12-point checklist on accreditation, teachers, teaching practice, schedule, fees and support before you enrol.

How to Choose a Yoga Teacher Training in Dubai: 12-Point Checklist

The best yoga teacher training in Dubai is one that is registered with Yoga Alliance and REPs UAE, is led by experienced senior teachers, gives you real teaching practice with feedback, fits your schedule, and keeps supporting you after you graduate. Everything else (the studio, the price, the extras) matters less than those five points.

I have trained more than 610 yoga teachers in Dubai since 2009, and the questions people ask before they enrol are almost always the same. This checklist puts them in one place, so you can compare any school, including ours, with clear eyes.

1. Is the school a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School?

Yoga Alliance is the largest international register of yoga teachers and schools. If the school is a Registered Yoga School (RYS 200), you can register as an RYT 200 when you graduate. That is the credential most studios, gyms and retreats around the world ask for.

Check the school's listing on the Yoga Alliance website yourself. Don't rely on a logo on a flyer.

2. Can you register with REPs UAE afterwards?

REPs UAE (the Registry of Exercise Professionals) is the register most gyms, hotels and studios in the UAE look for when they hire. If the school is a registered REPs UAE training provider, you can register after graduating. If you plan to teach in Dubai, ask about this before anything else.

3. Who will actually teach you?

Ask for the names of the lead trainers and how many hours each one teaches. Look for:

  • An E-RYT 500 lead trainer with years of teaching experience, not just practice
  • Specialists for anatomy, philosophy and teaching methodology
  • Small groups, so the lead trainer knows your practice and your teaching

A beautiful brochure means nothing if most of the course is taught by assistants.

4. How many hours of real teaching practice are included?

You learn to teach by teaching. A good 200-hour course includes many hours where you lead your classmates and receive specific feedback, starting with short sequences and building up to a full class. Ask: "How many times will I teach a full class before I graduate, and who gives me feedback?"

5. Is the anatomy practical?

You don't need to memorise every muscle. You need to understand how to keep real bodies safe: knees, lower backs, shoulders, wrists, pregnancy and common injuries, plus how to offer modifications. Ask how anatomy is taught and whether it connects directly to the poses you'll teach.

6. Is philosophy taught as something you can live and teach?

The Yoga Sutras, the eight limbs, pranayama and meditation are what turn exercise into yoga. Look for a course that teaches philosophy in a way you can bring into a class, not just read about.

7. Does it teach the skills beyond the poses?

Cueing, sequencing, holding space, consent-based hands-on assists, teaching mixed-level groups and the business side of teaching decide whether you find work after graduation. Read our guide to the skills every great yoga teacher needs.

8. Which styles will you be qualified to teach?

Most 200-hour courses centre on Hatha, Vinyasa or both. Ask what you'll be confident teaching on day one after graduation. At Thousand Petaled Lotus, Hatha is the core, and you also learn to teach Vinyasa, Power Yoga, pranayama and meditation.

9. Does the schedule fit your life?

A course you can't attend fully won't serve you. In Dubai, look for:

  • Weekday batches for people with free mornings
  • Weekend batches for working professionals
  • A flexible or hybrid option if you fly, work shifts or travel often

Also ask what happens if you miss a session. Good schools offer structured catch-up so you still complete the full 200 hours.

10. Is the fee clear, and what does it include?

Compare the total cost: the manual, materials, exam and certificate should be included. Ask about instalment plans, early-bird pricing and whether there are extra fees for registration or retakes. Yoga Alliance and REPs UAE charge their own registration fees after you graduate; a transparent school will tell you that up front.

11. What support do you get after graduation?

The first months of teaching are when you need help most. Ask about mentoring, an alumni community, continuing education such as an RYT 300, and whether graduates are helped to find teaching opportunities.

12. Can you try it before you commit?

A confident school lets you sit in on a training session and meet the lead trainer before you pay. Ask whether you can visit a live module, or start with a short foundation course.

How our RYT 200 answers the checklist

At Thousand Petaled Lotus in Dubai Sports City, our RYT 200 yoga teacher training is taught by me, Dr. Kasi, an Ayurvedic physician and E-RYT 500. We are a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School (RYS 200 and RYS 300) and a REPs UAE registered training provider. You can choose a weekday, weekend or Hybrid batch, catch up on anything you miss, and pay in interest-free instalments.

The best way to decide is to visit. See the next batch dates and fees, or WhatsApp us to sit in on a training session for free.

Frequently asked questions

How long does a yoga teacher training in Dubai take?

A 200-hour course usually runs over about 3 months in a weekday or weekend format. Flexible formats let you take longer.

Do I need to be advanced to start?

No. You need a regular practice and a sincere wish to learn. You don't need a handstand or deep backbends.

Is an online course enough to teach in Dubai?

For teaching in UAE gyms and studios, an in-person course from a school that is both Yoga Alliance registered and a REPs UAE training provider is the safest choice. Always check what employers in your area require.

What comes after the 200-hour course?

Many teachers take a 300-hour advanced training, which combined with the 200 hours lets them register as RYT 500. Read more in our guide to yoga certification in Dubai.
